The problem with this statement is that it reflects the foundations of many problems of the African-American community. As an educator, I know from my own experience how difficult is to create interest in studies among young people living on the edge of society, as they consider some street subcultures as a form of identity or rebellion against social norms. This reality in the USA acquires a racial dimension that makes the problem greater and seems to be an important factor of alienation very difficult to overcome.
Of course, we cannot struggle against our sexual impulses that rarely are politically correct. Sexual arousing many times implies playing with cultural stereotypes. That is not a problem if you are cynical about it, but that statement implies making no difference between stereotype and reality.

Why is everyone being so rude over this? This is not about stereotypes. I don't go out to the "ghetto" because I think only "thugs" live there or anything so silly and quaint. My attraction to the thug/bad boy type merely has to do with a personality trait which makes them more appealing to me. Yes, there are educated, well spoken, affluent black men and they could be just as "bad boyish" as the meanest thug in the bedroom but overall, there is something particular about the thug/bad boy type that makes me like them more and that is MY choice to make as it is daydreamer3's choice to make on what she happens to like. For the record, the "bad boy" thing is not exclusive to any one race, but this is not about that, this is simply about a particular taste. Stop being so judgemental!

Its the attributing certain characteristics and behaviors with acting a certain race. It reminds me of when I was stationed in Germany. German girls love American black men but its clear a lot of the younger ones have a certain image of what they initially think about all black men, from the rap music videos they see. But that would usually end up being the wana be hood german girls who think they are black going to the"ghetto" look.
And this is why I say I look for intellegence, not well educated! Don't get me wrong though I like both, but given the choice I'd much rather have good, wide ranging conversation then hear ad nauseam about where you went to school and who you know.
