Leading by example is definitely a key. You don't need to preach from a soapbox or wear slogans on T-shirts, although those are okay. Just go out together so people see the black/white pairing -- restaurants, movies, shopping, whatever. Obviously that is harder to do now, but things will open up more in the future.
