i like your thought process but do not believe you can extrapolate from one/your experience. In particular i doubt that the penile gland will be closer to the cervix in the doggy position as compared to missionary. Why do you think so?

May I just add, as an MD and sexologist in agreement with your Obgyn friend, that semen of thicker consistency overall is often ejaculated in spurts, as is the more fluid half-clotted semen of potent men of all ages.
However, whatever the consistency of the semen when it’s ejaculated, when it has pooled in the back of the vagina, it undergoes pretty much total liquefaction under the influence of the declotting enzymes, including hyaluronidase, that are produced in the man’s twin seminal vesicles whose thick secretion makes up between 60 and 70 percent of the total volume of the ejaculate.
Yes, the woman’s cervix can certainly be plastered with thick semen as the man executes his custard-strokes but, as I have just explained, his semen very quickly (within two or three minutes after ejaculation) liquefies; which provides the very fluid environment that the sperm need to carry on their mission of swimming onwards and upward through the womb and the twin egg-tubes to reach their goal; the recently-released egg of the woman.
In the light of the above and considering the anatomical layout of the woman’s cervix and egg-tubes and ovaries, it follows that the woman’s ovaries can never be thickly or even thinly coated with semen, be it initially custardy or more or less lumpy in consistency, during the act of ejaculation.

But since I was a medical student I've made well over forty babies by natural insemination (at no fee) for husband-infertile childless couples and single women and outright lesbians. In donating my sperm I inseminate the woman multiple times during her most fertile few days, usually overnighting with her.
With efficiency and effectiveness being the foremost considerations, I inseminate the women exclusively in the missionary position and do my best, often with surprising success, to get them to orgasm with me or within a minute or two of me ejaculating.
With the above approach my success-rate for impregnation of women with no fertility problems at all on clinical screening is a satisfying 60% per two ovulatory cycles and 80% for four. Miracles could take up to a couple of years longer to accomplish. As I'm sure you understand, precise timing of intercourse is of the essence.
My being an MD, very healthy and fit and a reasonably long-cocked and accomplished lover, plus having a very high sperm-count (in the 97th percentile), quite likely contributes in a measure to the above success-rates.
Naturally I wouldn't insist on or prescribe my method for every baby-wanting couple or woman, but it's a time-hallowed recipe for baby-making and (take it from me Annie) the pleasure it provides is well worth the effort.
