I know what Libertarians stand for, TwoBi ... its that 90+%, called the sheep voters,
I know, and I never said you didn't, I said
for those who want to know. Therefor, the link.
the elimination of taxes & the governments ability to maintain a revenue source is but one of them. We simply can't maintain a country without revenue.
We can and we have, income tax wasn't imposed until 1861, the government paid for itself with other forms of tax/donations. There are many other ways to tax without simply taking ones hard earned money. Sales tax and luxury tax should be the biggest, Corporate tax should also be a big one, leave the hard worker alone. The only reason we can't survive now without a huge revenue is because all those sheep you mention think the government should pay their way, like free healthcare, free housing, free food, free higher education, free, free, free. Why do you think our taxes keep going up? BTW, Another term for people that want everything provided for, make all their decisions, and heavily taxed is called a "Serf".
parent's right to raise their children as they see fit
You don't think you should have the right to raise your children as you see fit? What if some senator decides all children should were pants on even days and dresses on odd days -regardless of sexual orientation, you wouldn't have an issue with that because the government said it should be so? We aren't saying you should have the right to beat, neglect, or abuse your children.
an unrestricted internet & gun ownership,
I thought the left was for net neutrality?? You don't want a free information internet, should it be censored like China? So only The Huffington post news can be viewed and not FOX? The gun ownership again I go back to personal responsibility. There is none today. And yes, there is a large number that would push it to the limits but with a strong hand I think we can keep that to a min. (unlike the feather whip we use today.) I believe if people (in the past) were strictly held accountable for their actions that effect others, people today would be a lot more responsible and respectful.
We can't give our citizens the "freedom" to live their lives as they see fit without infringing on the rights of those with dissimilar ideas. There has to be regimentation of some kind.
Not sure if you read that link in it's entirety. There is regulation, You are free to live your life as you see fit as long as it
does NOT infringe on the rights of others. In short, If I want to ******* a 64oz soft *******, knowing the risk, I should be able to ******* it. If YOUR tax dollars aren't paying for MY healthcare, it shouldn't matter to you. It also means that if I don't want to sell my product (as a private business) to a green man from space, I have the right to deny service, no law can ******* me (and the green man has the right to buy else where)- however I must accept whatever happens as a result, like loss of revenue (personal responsibility) It doesn't mean I have the right to go do donuts in your front yard, or speed down your street at 85mph, or make a law that forces you to to go to church (or prevents you from going).
I understand where you are coming from and I'm not trying to change your mind here. There are far to many factors on each topic we couldn't possibly touch on all of them. But what I don't understand is why you don't want to live in a free society. Why do you feel that you (or someone) should have the right to impose on; and tell others how to live? You want the government to tax and regulate everything, but yet you claim to dis-like socialism - in essence, that is what socialism is. Just doesn't make sense to me.
