Current events and 2024 US election thread!

I'm sorry you had a difficult time "reading" my post ... keep trying, however. Your "opinion" is still appreciated as your own opinion.
Sophistry of this sort is unbecoming, Mac.

Your stated opinion has been that "reasonable" moderates and centrists should push extremists out of their respective parties. You have conspicuously failed to identify extremists among Democrats (and FOX News articles are proof of nothing more than a desperate attempt to shore up a poorly conceived argument).

Well, I did but you didn't accept the names I gave as "extremist" Democrats. Being a devoted moderate Biden Democrat myself for some time now, I'm not going to argue back & forth over who you & I can agree are extremist liberals. Leading the way is Alexandra Cortex, who assembled the Justice Democrats called "the squad". The MAGA Maggots would call any politician registered as Democrat as "extremists" and "extreme left". So there's really no point in trying to find center ground with you regarding Democrat political platforms in which we can discuss specifics like the Green New Deal, Universal Healthcare, Free College Tuitions, Abortion Rights, Dismantlement Of Police, etc. I don't know your political beliefs and really don't care to know. If you want to take a position on a popular political topic and I feel I have a strong opinion on the topic, I'll certainly chime in with my opinions. But to simply argue over who WE (you & I) see as extremists in either party is futile without discussing their specific positions on some key topics. Make sense? We have enough posters here who post only to "argue" and then get into either sarcasm or name calling without posting a word of support to their positions. I don't support "extreme" political positions of either political party as there is always a "give & take" to every problem we have as a country.
Personally, I have better things to do with my time than go back & forth with no intent more than to get "IN" the last word.

These articles will give you some idea where I'm coming from, "maybe".

One thing about a democracy is that it has the ability to vote itself out of existence. What you propose would lead to a pornocracy.
A president with a dick like that, will certainly make smaller dick leaders start to feel that Napoleon Complex and attack Americans.
I won't name any specific country, but it rhymes with Shy-na.

2024 Democrat Ticket Prediction - Gavin Newsome & Cory Booker
Booker is just not likable. He comes across as wanting it too much. Ever since he was Mayor he seemed like an eager boy scout. Well educated, overachiever and successful guy. However, you know, politics don't reward that.
Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan not only won re-election against the MAGA onslaught, but lead the ticket for a Democratic takeover in Michigan in the legislature and every single statewide office. First time in 40 years.
Jared Polis over in Colorado. A Democrat that gets a majority of the Independent vote. He is supported by environmentalists, ranchers, labor unions, gun owners, progressive voters, justice advocates, libertarian land owners, city dwellers, weed lovers and hunters.
Gavin Newsom in California, made for prime time. Got a pretty good record in our biggest state and comes to the table already with 1/5th of the electoral vote.

Actually, Cory Booker has "recognition" as he's on TV a lot, he does have a "great education, an overachiever & successful guy". And, that's what the common voters WANT and NEED ... someone they can feel more relaxed with, knowing there's someone seeing the urgency of this country and stands in their corner. He won't be on the stage tossing a ton of MUD PIES ... he'll maintain more of a professional 'all business' profile. He has a tremendous amount of energy.
You are thinking "politics" which is often the normal way in these situations, but the majority of voters are NOT politically sophisticated, we know that from the 2020 and 2022. Also, Cory is young and can be groomed for a future presidency if he doesn't have skeletons in HIS closet as well. He also fulfills the growing desire of keeping quality minorities on the ticket.
I personally think the odds are high Cory can stamp his ticket for the 2024 election.

I can't imagine Biden running again. The fact that there are "gov documents" being discovered at both Biden & Pence tends to create the scent of a Donald Trump ... he's simply continuing his quest of corruption and "win at any cost" ... what does he have to lose at this point? Unless he wins the Presidency AGAIN ... Trump is going to JAIL. He'll do anything, including espionage, to stay out of prison including "KILLING SOMEONE ON 5th Ave.".

That's because of the perception it tries to give that it's the government of "fairness" which has no doubt become a joke the past 2 decades.

It's hard to keep the appearance of "fairness" when all the opponents are cheating & conspiring to take you down. At some point you are forc.ed to cheat, too, or risk getting voted out of government.

My post was really jocular. There is much truth to what you say. In the words of Peter Bachmann (aka Stephen King): "Any game looks fair as long as everyone is being cheated at once."

And why wouldn't Biden decide to choose Booker as his VP running mate in 2024? Personally, I think that'd be awesome. Booker's got that same aura that Obama had when he first arrived in Congress. Democrat voters are wanting another Obama and Booker's on target with many of his speeches as well.
• powerful delivery skills
• takes the audience to another place with one clear purpose
• knows exactly what to say to make his audience trust him by creating contrasts between a problem and a believable solution
• use words that cut to the quick in a way that every person feels deeply using artful metaphors like …

“the grit . . . of ordinary people.” and "ripples of hope that come out when you throw a stone in a lake.”

The outline of an effective speech will have three sections: an introduction, body and conclusion. The repetition is powerful because it can make your message more persuasive, memorable, and entertaining.

  • In public speaking repetition is your friend. By using the rhetorical technique Anaphora, the repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses, he slams home his message. Repetition, or restatement of an idea, promotes clarity and encourages the acceptance of an idea.
I believe Cory Booker has those skills just as Obama had. Four years under Biden (possibly more IF he had to assume the Presidency) and I think Booker would be another Obama in a lot of ways.

Mac,
I know you all have pretty good moon shine down there. However, there is no rule where you must d/rink the whole mason jar. Measured sips.
First, he has a VP. If he runs again, she will be right there. Second, Cory Booker is no fucking Obama by a long ass shot.

#1 If you recall I predicted the Democrat running mate Harris prior to Biden selecting her. She impressed me on the Trump/Russian committee and I felt her experience as a DA would be great to have along side Biden. Unfortunately she's been kept rather "quiet" as the VP, and I expected her to possibly have more exposure than other 1st term VPs, but it never happened. Maybe I've missed something along the way with all the distractions of Donald Trump, etc.

#2 Cory Booker most definitely is NOT an Obama yet, you're right. In the NFL how many players that are drafted come in as SUPERSTAR expectations ... 2-3%? But Cory is sharp, he brings face recognition to the table, and he's a good speaker, right age, he's a team player, and he believes in his politics and what he says. But, of all the candidates I can think of, Booker has many of the skill sets Obama had. Honestly I don't expect him to do anything more the first couple years than be a good Vice President ... that's just my feeling.
.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. "It's coming in clear, now"
So that's my 2024 prediction ... Cory Booker is going to be the running mate for whomever runs for the Democrat presidency..... gif_yellowball-FortuneTeller2.gif
