Sure it matters ... although related to the same event, the cuckold is usually the married man, and the wife is the hotwife. In both situations, the wife is involved with other sexual partners while the married man usually remains monogamous.
I've been interested in this cuckolding for over 15 years now ... when the popularity of cuckold started to become a popular, household term. Its morphed quite a bit over the years, and unfortunately doesn't refer to just married men anymore, but men involved in supposedly monogamous relationships where the female partner 'cheats'. It also doesn't require the wife to cheat (adultery) as the male often encourages the wife to take other sexual partners for his own fantasy enjoyment. You might look up the word wittol, as that word more specifically applies to married men who allow their wives to cheat with other men. It really does get difficult to have a discussion about cuckolding when everyone has their own understanding and definition of the word. Its nice to see someone who is actually curious about the differences of words. The story behind the word, cuckold, is actually very interesting reading.

No, a cuckold is a man whose wife is unfaithful ( not what people like to hear). It has nothing to do with Alpha or Beta. There are so many misconceptions out there because people are just shying away the word cuckold. Mac's words are 100% on target.

Then how do you differentiate between
1) Guys with sexual wives that like to be humiliated, brag about their little penises, eat other dude's nut, and cower down, and like being controlled
2) Guys that are virile, fuck them women very well, and are dominant about controlling their women and making them do things?
Because those are completely opposite types of males that are nothing at all like each other.

You don't agree with facts? What is it your trying to say? If the wife has sex with other men he is a form of cuckold. If a wife cheats on you, and you don't know about it, you have just been cuckolded.

If she cheats on you without your agreement you are not cuckold.

What you are describing is by definition is a Wittol . The original definition of a man who's wife is unfaithful. He is a Cuckold. This original definition is quoted over and over.

It's no longer in common usage, but the word cuckold refers to a husband whose wife has cheated on him. Cuckold is also used as a verb. You can make a cuckold of someone if you have sex with their partner without their knowledge. Or you could be cuckolded if your partner cheats on you.
The Oxford English Dictionary traces the term back to the 13th century and if you read Shakespeare in high school you probably came across the term dozens of times.
Honestly it kinda feels the other way around, that the insistence (sometimes angry insistence) on distinctions is driven by people who are uncomfortable. I understand it too; there's little doubt that porn tends to push the extreme agenda in most cases, and while it's not likely a representation of reality when it comes to the many real couples who add another man for sex, the perception of it is so off-putting to some folks that any kind of association with it is unacceptable.
If she cheats on you without your agreement, you actually have been cuckolded, in perhaps the most basic sense of the word. And while the so-called kink or fetishization of a partner having sex with someone else is nothing new, some of the ways it gets portrayed and promulgated today disgusts some people.
