Domestic issue ... female waiting to gun down her husband, who they believe is in critical condition in hospital. The female shooter shot herself afterwards. She was using a semi-handgun.
No terrorist ... no real mass shooting ... just a pissed off wife.

Not to get off topic but anyone notice that not only has Dicks sporting goods changed the policy on assault weapons and gun sales but none of the ads i have gotten from Dicks in the last 3 weeks have had one single gun in them.....of any kind. Frankly i wont be patronizing Dicks any longer and will take my business elsewhere. Apparently i am not alone....their revenue is down since thier policy change.

Why are you wasting your money at Dicks in the first place? They are high $$$$
Big R and MC sports has much better prices. The Dicks in my area stopped carrying guns all together after Sandy Hook - they are now struggling to stay open. They have since brought back Ammo Sales. Can't really say it is due to not selling guns however. MC sports went out last year and they were still selling guns at the time. Cracks me up - the guns went as low as 20% off. People were talking about how much a "great" deal that was. lol. 20% is a normal "sale" price - sheep. It's a "close out" price so that makes it better than a "normal sale" price. :cold:

ORLANDO, Fla. - A 13-year-old student is facing a felony charge after Volusia County deputies say he threatened to shoot up River Springs Middle School in Orange City, Fla.

The student, a seventh-grader, made the comments in a restroom Monday afternoon, sheriff's spokeswoman Laura Williams said. Several other students reported the comments to law enforcement.

The boy tried to blame another student for making the comments before admitting that he was lying, Williams said.

He was charged with making a false report concerning the use of firearms - a felony. He's one of 20 Volusia County students who have been charged with making school threats since the Feb. 14 tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Williams said.

Now,
Will these ******* get the help they need? - most likely not.
If they do get psychiatric help, will it appear on a background check after they turn 18? nope. Records are sealed at age 18. Not to mention patient-doctor confidentiality and the fact that the shrink is not required to report their mental state to the feds. Even though they committed a felony, they don't specify if it is considered a "non-violant" felony or not, if they are not charged as a an adult, when they turn 18 they most likely will be able to purchase a firearm. If it is classified as a class A, B, or otherwise violent felony, then it's possible it would carry over. A threat like this should stick with the kid for life, and never be allowed to purchase a firearm. But hay - no one wants to talk about fixing these laws.

Until the extremists on both sides settle down, and the moderates of both sides come to the table to discuss the issues/adjustments, this may go on a while. President Chump isn't helping matters at all, and congressional donations need to become transparent so voters can see who's financing their representatives. I'm sure Dick's is going to miss your money.

Guess you can frequent the gun shows and flea markets ... I saw a nice M1 carbine I'd like to have purchased not long ago .... looked nice. My kind of "attack gun" ... lol

An M1 carbine?? Are you shitting me. The guy that thinks AR's should be banned and you want to purchase an M1 carbine. How is that any different than an AR other than it doesnt have a scary black stock and its a .30 caliber carbine round. No difference....still semi auto and u can still get high capacity magazines.

Nostalgic reasons, Alanm ... my dad had one in Vietnam, however, he never used it because he was a clergy. AND, my grandfather had one in WW2. Its just a nice, little petite weapon.

they just as well quit selling guns......and I would bet it was more because they just were not selling any to begin with rather than any support of the school shootings....Bass pro about as high as you can get on anything and Dicks is even higher!
the only thing I buy at Dicks is if I can't find it any place else....both my sons buy a lot of stuff there..(sportswear)
I buy things from Bass pro on occasion....just because I like going in and seeing all the "neat stuff" and usually end up buying something
90% of my gun purchases have gun from gun shows.....far cheaper..a few at Flea markets because they were just to cheap not to buy
we do have a small gun shop up on the highway about a mile or so from here...nice guy and does a pretty good biz for being away from town...although a lot of traffic goes by...I do trade some stuff there and did buy my youngest BP rifle there...just because I like the guy

I agree they are great little guns as are AR's...my dad had one also but got rid of it before i had a chance to buy it from him. Just kinda wondering though why u dont have a problem with that weapon but the AR you do....the M1 carbine is a military weapon as well.

true it is a military weapon...and I had one for a while....but it doesn't hold large amounts of ammo...although by now they may have a clip for it that does...and it doesn't shoot on auto...similar to the m14 which was a bigger rifle but same thing...just a good accurate rifle...where as a lot of the newer stuff can be made to shoot on full auto

Alanm, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you're "playing me" with that question. There's no similarity of the two (AR 15 & M1 carbine), and you darn well know that. Eugene Stoner designed the AR 15& M-16 to compete and beat out the AK 47 in the early 60's. Its a REAL assault weapon, not a home defense weapon. What doesn't the AR 15 have on the M1?.... range, penetration, rifle power -energy per fps, bullet breaks apart on impact for max damage. The carbine is compact & light weight ... hummm, I guess that's about it. Of course YOU know all this; I would never question your knowledge on guns vs me because I don't hold the high opinion of guns as you do ... to me, a "gun is a gun" for self defense. I prefer a good old 12 gauge with police rounds, personally. Even Eugene Stoner was quoted as saying that the AR-15 was NOT intended for civilian use.

Wow you are really reaching now mac. Come on. Lets compare....the m1 .30 caliber carbine 110 grain ammo had a muzzle velocity of roughly 2000 fps....for an energy of roughly 1000 ft lbs of energy and you can get a 30 round box magazine for the rifle just like an AR.

The .223 remington 55 grain standard round travels about 3200 fps for an energy of about 1250 ft-lbs....yes more energy than the .30 m1 carbine. But your telling me thats your whole reason. The m1 was designed for the military as a light assault weapon to be carried by paratroopers etc. Trust me it can do plenty of damage at close range out to about 300 yards.

What about the M14....20 round box mag...looks similar to the M1....more powerful round than either the AR or the m1.

Just think if you think the M1 is ok the AR should be too

Yes you could get a 30 round mag for it and they made a select fire full auto version....the M2.

This is just Mac demonstrating his usual ill-informed hypocrisy. The M1 carbine is damn sure an assault rifle. Just like the AR-15, it was designed for military use....which doesn't mean it can't be/has no legitimate civilian uses.

The M1 carbine was a weapon of choice for some of the more elite assault troops like the 82nd & 101st airborne as well as other countries elite troops like the British SAS.

Legally, the M1 carbine is classified and banned in some states as an assault rifle. New Jersey being one example:

https://www.range365.com/nj-court-says-man-cant-have-grandfathers-m1-carbine-back

New Jersey has a general legal definition of features which make a rifle an illegal assault rifle, but they also list by name a number of rifles which are banned. The M1 Carbine is on the list: (see section N.J.A.C. 13:54-1.2 Definitions)

I don't think you can compare what the military used 50 years ago to todays assault rifles!
as for what is banned in NJ........they are probably the toughest on any type of weapon!

I beg to differ....the M1 garand was and still is probably one of the best military service rifles ever designed. Its only limitation was the 8 round mag and maybe the weight....it was heavy... but the .30-06 springfield round was a hell of a lot more powerful than an AR. Wish i had one....my grandfather fought in ww2 and had one but sadly when he passed my grandma got rid of it.

Not only that, but Mac's precious M1 carbine has been used in multiple mass shootings. It was the primary rifle used by James Pough in the Jacksonville, FL 1990 shooting. He killed 9, which was the deadliest mass shooting in Florida for a quarter century.

The M1 carbine was also used in the first real mass shooting, the Univ of Texas Tower shooting.

Whitman had his M1 in hand and someone in his sights when the police finally got to him and killed him.
