Does the context in how it’s said or used change whether or not its offensive?
It's always offensive, especially if a white person says it. Do you want your wife to be called darling, my love or any other word that you call her (openly or in private) by your friends, by her or your boss or by random people? Do you want your ******* to call you by your first name or any other word that your wife, friends or relatives call you? Would you feel comfortable and say yes if your boss asked you if he could call you darling? Probably not! Well, you call her darling too so we should be allowed to call her or you darling, cookie or whatever you call each other too?! That's the logic that lot's of non blacks who want to use the N-Word have. I don't even like it when a black person says it. It's just disrespectful to us and our ancestors!

It is such a vile word, especially these days... with all the negative history that the word evokes. I would have a hard time saying it even during sex... but I guess in the heat of moment I might IF, and only if, the black man I was with wanted me to say it... if it enhanced the moment. If it turned him on... and made his experience even more passionate.

There are so many others words that could reflect the passion, pleasure and taboo breaking context that so many attach to the word. Not a label I will let you use around with me, and I will let you know in a way that enlightens without including the embarrassment the usually comes when you recognize presumed a level of intimacy that does not exist.

The truth is that it will vary from person to person. Just don't blurt it out mid sex. Ask if its okay to use the N word and if they're cool with you using it in this context. Explain that it's part of the fantasy for you for some reason you can't really explain.
