At movie's end, did you believe Duke and/or Debby had developed feelings for the other?

Thank you so very much! Would love to hear if you have any thoughts (positive or negative) about the movie. I love it but have some negative thoughts on it to I will share in time. I am just happy I sparked so much interest in it. And that it led me to some of your breathtaking photos too :)

Question for Ladies (and men if you feel qualified) I am working on writing a sequel to this movie (as I cannot accept the ending of this movie represents the last time Duke and Debby will ever see each other lol), so I am hoping someone can help me out with this question. Should I describe Debby's hair as "sandy blonde," "strawberry blonde," or just plain "blonde?"

A friend of mine just pm me and said he thinks Debbie's hair is strictly blonde with no sub category. Anyone else care to agree or disagree?

Yup, also that black men had her virginity now as well, so she totally would totally be compliant. I think that was sort of the idea that she was washing dishes with her tits out. Notice how they would focus on her pussy after sex scenes, reiterating that this white flower was now bbc owned.
Forgot to respond to this point but you are so correct. I believe that Debby took hardly any effort to cover her breasts while she was cleaning in front of Coke in the kitchen in order to make a conscious showing of her intent to be compliant to the gang's demands. And yes, the Director did always make a point of showing close ups of Debby's pussy after she had been used, and we got long shots of it in a state of total creaminess when Debby's pussy was being impaled by Duke's cock. All iundoubtedly ntended to make a statement that her body had been claimed and was now Black owned, I'm in total agreement with you on that point.

For those who have seen the movie, I'd love to know at what point (if at all) you felt like Debby was starting to have positive feelings towards Duke, or perhaps just about her ordeal generally? Also, if you thought Debby was feigning feelings for Duke just to stay alive basically, would love to hear those opinions too.

As for me, I think Duke planted the seed for Debby to begin having positive feelings towards him when he gently woke her up to bring her panties back. He also planted another seed to get Debby to like him when he invited her to sit at the table while he went over plans for the Race war, and invited her to switch sides and join their cause.

Ultimately though. I believe sexual attraction to Duke really hit home when he punished Jody for assaulting her. During that moment she gave him a certain look (see below) that indicated to me she was really finding herself drawn to him, and the punishment he imposed on her behalf was a turn on for her.

True that in bedroom initially Debby showed a type of resistance to Duke's sexual overtures through a display of complete passivity. I think that was for her fiancé Bill's sake and the sake of her conscience though, given how quickly her defenses melted and how she embraced him with a truly wanton and passionate surrender.

Love to hear anyone else's thoughts:)

This is the movie that started it all for me. I had never seen anything like it and still haven't to this day. Quentin Tarantino has called it, "the greatest porno of all time," and he actually screened it at one of his film festivals. I haven't seen this in many years, so it's hard to give a review. I would love to see a remake. In the remake, I would leave much of the storyline. The only changes I would make would be to add a dominant Black lesbian who is second in-command. Debby is initially Black-owned by the whole gang, but both Duke and the lesbian want Debby for themselves. They take turns with Debby and use her for their pleasure. Debby develops strong feelings for both of them. Which one will she choose?

Wow, that is a great idea! In the scene where Jody abuses Debby at the end I felt like that despite the intense hatred she felt for Debby, there was a part of her that felt sexually attracted to Debby, and she hated her even more for that reason. I agree with Tarantino I think about it being the greatest of all time, for the fact that Lisa Baker's acting performance I think was the best ever (her depiction of Stockholm Syndrome better even than I have seen in mainstream films), and this is the only x-rated movie where I felt like I bonded with the characters and wanted to see more of them, not so much sexually, but for how their life stories played out in the aftermath of that day. I am actually writing a sequel and had thought about developing a love triangle between Debby, Duke, and Shorty but I may just like your idea even better:) Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I have yet to watch the movie but I would distinguish between two types of potential re-make. The "fantasy" version is to make an extreme or more extreme version of the original that would no doubt be classified as porn. The "realistic" version would be to soften some of the more intense aspects of the original for 2019 sensibilities and get proper funding to make a great movie with a great cast about the exploding phenomenon of Black male / white female sexual relations in 2019. Just my thoughts...

I just re-watched Hot Summer in the City. I've never seen anything quite like it in a porn movie. There was a great deal of plot/storyline which made it interesting. It reminded me of the Patty Hearst kidnapping. We have a militant Black gang snatching a beautiful young blonde (Debby) off the streets. They take her back to their hideout where they ******* her to be a maid and a sex slave.

There's a scene where the Black gang leader takes Debby to bed. He's fucking her and kissing her. She is resistant at first but his cock and love-making get to her at some point and she starts kissing back. He has converted her to loving Black cock. The idea of the dominant Black Alpha taking the submissive white is powerful stuff. His power and sensuality are so overwhelming that the white becomes a willing slave.

I am so excited right now, I feel like the Egyptologist who first found the Rosetta Stone. According to every internet site I have seen that discussed the movie Hot Summer in the City, it has always been said that the book of the same name that was alleged to have inspired the movie, was never actually published. I now have visual proof that this is false and the book actually exists (See below!!!) IF ANYONE HAS OR FINDS THIS BOOK PLEASE MESSAGE ME AS I WOULD LOVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY IT FROM YOU. THANKS!

"She can take care of us, can't you honey?...That's a good little honky chick. We'll make a good honky out of you yet. That will show these boys that the only good honky ain't a dead one. Ain't that right? (Debby nods). All right, Coke, show her the kitchen. She gotta earn her keep here for a few days in more ways than one. And make her clean it good." - Gang Leader Duke, setting his terms and conditions for Debby's survival in the cabin.

For me what makes the movie "Hot Summer in the City" (HSIC) so compelling is how the writers and Director so effectively integrated elements of Stockholm Syndrome into the movie. According to Wikipedia, this term is defined as "a condition which causes hostages to develop a psychological alliance with their captors as a survival strategy during captivity. These alliances result from a bond formed between captor and captives during intimate time together, but they are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims." The syndrome is named after the botched attempted robbery of a bank in Sweden in which hostages were taken and later gave expressions of support for their captors during the encounter.

Psychologists who have studied the syndrome believe that the bond is initially created when a captor threatens a captive’s life, deliberates, and then chooses not to ******* the captive. The captive’s relief at the removal of the death threat is transposed into feelings of gratitude toward the captor for giving him or her life. In HSIC, after Debby is kidnapped, raped, and taken to a cabin, this initial bond is established when at the cabin the gang deliberates what to do with her, and Duke essentially gives Debby a road map for how to stay alive, which essentially involves her cooking and cleaning and having sex with the men (See quote above). Debby subsequently begins working in the kitchen so diligently that she clearly is trying to display her gratitude for being kept alive. Psychologists point out that victims often become hypervigilant to the needs and demands of their captors, making psychological links between the captors’ happiness and their own. Debby displayed this perfectly by cleaning and cooking for the men with an almost excessive amount of zeal.

Psychologists have further noted that a victim's survival instinct is at the heart of the Stockholm syndrome. Victims live in enforced dependence and interpret small acts of kindness during their captivity as good treatment. HSIC illustrated this brilliantly when Duke showed a small act of kindness by returning her panties to her.

Other essential elements include there not having been any prior relationship between captive and captor, and that over the course of captivity, the captive begins to show positive feelings for their captor. To the point that they begin to align emotionally with the captor's motivations and agenda that led to the captive's involuntary captivity in the first place. HSIC established this bond when Duke gave Debby a seat at his side at the operations table where his gang and another man were plotting an act designed to trigger a race war. Debby seemed thankful to Duke for being included in the planning and acted intrigued by the plot, and (outwardly at least) showed no revulsion at the prospect of mass casualties that would ensure if the plan was carried out. Moreover, after the meeting was finished, she willingly and happily surrendered herself completely to Duke in his bed, showing the positive bond she was beginning to feel for Duke was beginning to outweigh any concerns she might have had for the loss of life being contemplated, which ordinarily would have horrified Debby.

Granted, she appeared to try and escape the next morning, but one could see deep emotional confliction in her face as she weighed the decision of whether to try and flee. Indeed, she could have simply went out the door and ran, but she hem and hawed around and decided she needed to get her shoes first, before making an apparent final decision. I actually think even after she got her shoes, she hadn't completely made up her mind yet as to whether to try and escape, so deeply was the emotional conflict so written on her face.

20180329-233939.JPG

As the movie comes to a close, the elements of Stockholm Syndrome have completely bonded Debby to Duke. He intercedes for her after the escape attempt and protects her, ultimately choosing Debby over his girlfriend Jody by killing her to keep Debby alive. By that point Debby had been groomed to feeling completely dependent on Duke, and had began confusing those feelings with an emotion we are all to familiar with, called "love." Despite having been offered her freedom, she seems reluctant to be released and more worried about Duke's safety. As Duke drives away Debby is crying and clearly feels a sense of loss and a sense of even being lost, now that she is no longer under Duke's authority. All classic emotions in the Stockholm Syndrome experience.

I would close by stating that I believe Actress Lisa Baker and Director Gail Palmer should have been given awards for such a brilliant incorporation of the dynamics of Stockholm Syndrome within an X-rated film. Kudos to Duke Johnson and the rest of cast as well, each of whom were equally flawless in the portrayal of their own characters. Perhaps Quinten Terrentino is not to far off in calling HSIC "The Greatest Porno of All Time."

2 QUESTIONS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE ALL THE WAY TO THE END:

1. What were your thoughts about the way the movie ended? Did it end the way you thought it would, or if you thought it would end differently, how did you think it would end? Also, did you like or not like the way the movie ended, and why?

2. At the end of the movie, were you left with a feeling that Duke and Debby would ever cross paths again? If so, what would you have liked to have seen in a sequel to this movie, basically what would have been your ideal concept or script outline for a "Hot Summer in the City 2?" Finally, did the movie leave you wanting a sequel or were you happy (or at least relieved) with the way the movie ended?

1. When the Black woman made her appearance, I was really hoping for some interracial lesbian action. I was disappointed they never went anywhere with that. I hate seeing a missed opportunity in a porn video. Also, I was hoping Debby would choose to stay with Duke. I would like to have seen her completely enamored with him, chasing the car down the driveway as he was leaving. She jumps in and throws herself around him, kissing him passionately. As the music begins, we hear her saying, "I love you, Duke."

2. I was not left with the feeling they would cross paths again since he's a criminal and would be on the run, however, a sequel would have changed that. In the sequel, I see her back with her boyfriend, only now they are married. She's doing OK until she sees a story about Duke on the news that he is believed to be back in the area. She can't stop thinking about him now, even when hubby is having sex with her. Then one day the phone rings and it's Duke wanting to see her. She agrees to meet him and all the old feelings come rushing back. They have sex and she tells him her husband never makes her feel that way. She decides to leave her husband and join Duke's gang. She and Duke return to Debby's house to collect her things where they encounter hubby. He is easily intimidated by Duke but desperate to keep his beautiful wife. He agrees to join the gang too as a cuckold and house servant. They keep him around for awhile. Debby provides sexual services to the whole gang but makes passionate love to Duke every night. Hubby sleeps on the floor at the foot of their bed listening to them.

I find this film to be wrong on so many levels, yet so arousing at the same time. Very conflicted, because it touches on many deep things in our psyche.

Are there more films like this? Do talk about them on this forum!
