People have been pent up for the better part of year and itching to get this pandemic over with. So many people bored at home, some likely role-playing and watching racy porn videos. This is an interesting question for all kink in general. I don't. Seems like The lifestyle was more popular around 2012. With Craigslist, there were always ads looking for BBC. I always got replies when I wrote ads, but towards 2015-2016, I've noticed the demand had gone down for black men on CL, considerably then the previous administration killed the hookups, for legitimate reasons. (and I'm no fan of the previous administration )
I don't know if it's just the political climate, but I don't see it trending up. I just see it more status quo for right now.

I think it would be silly to ignore the political aspect where the country and parts of the western world is divided. and white nationalism is on the rise. You must be white to not factor in that conclusion.
Not sure that post covid will make it more of an interest to people. I think those who are into it were into pre covid. I honestly think it might cause some people to refrain from meeting. This has been an insane year and people will not just be able to to turn the page. Just our two cents...
