"breeding" includes the entire reproduction process for the purpose of producing offspring.
So, its not improper to say breeding when having unprotective intercourse. It may take several "breedings" to result in being "bred".
Also, a male intentionally slipping off his condom during sex could be considered, on his part, as breeding his females if its his intention of ejaculating inside the female (with or w/o her consent) to impregnate her.
I can see your agreement and I think it supports mine. Breeding is the act of reproduction. If neither the male or the female is protected, then the act of breeding takes place. Potent sperm is allowed to flow into a fertile womb and it isn't relevant if impregnation takes place. The female was bred.

But if any form of protection is used (i.e. condoms, the pill, IUD, or sterilization) then breeding does not take place. It's just sex.
