Hello, I would like to hear your own personal experiences that you had with racism or when you were discriminated. Nowadays, racism happens in a very subtle way, so that most people will not notice it or that it's almost impossible to prove. This depends on the place you live of course. In other parts of the world people are pretty shameless about being racist.

I heard from a friend (who has arabic roots) that he was in a store to buy clothes (mid-range store) and when he was looking at items, the salesman (also the owner of the store) told him ''no you can't afford this'' with a grin on his face. It was just a belt of 190 euros (250 dollars) that he was looking at. I thought it was so rude.

Share us your personal experiences, so people can know how it happens in society in reality and recognise it more easily. Because the problem is that most people think racism only happens in a way that someone walks up to someone and tells him/her some insults referring to his/her skin colour/ethnicity/origin/etc. Most of the times it happens in a subtle way (that it's hard to tell from the outside).

I've felt discriminated against in Asia by being told I should pay more for goods because I'm a westerner.
In my own country I've been discriminated against due to the town I was born in. I have been accused of being dishonest and been told I'll never do well in life because of my accent. I'm white. I'm from Liverpool. We're called scousers and are the lowest of the English in the eyes of many. That's why the graffiti I see every day in my town says, 'you're scouse, not English'.

Many won't equate this with racism and I've no doubt whatsoever that someone will get offended, but it amounts to the same thing in my eyes.

oh yes i know what you mean. usually people make fun of the accent of liverpool, which is innocent imo, but you also have people who portray you like lesser or thiefs.

and yes i also noticed this abroad. whenever they notice you're from Europe they smell the euros (in your case pounds) and they charge you more. it's so annoying haha. you have to be a bit persistant against these people.

It is innocent until it is you. With a scouse accent it is much harder to find work in the UK and people will be openly hostile - 'fucking thieving scouse bastard', 'oh here's the scouser from self-pity city', 'you pissed on your own dead and stole from their pockets at Hillsborough, scouse scum'.

I've had it all pal.

Yeah I didn't know it was that bad in england. I thought it was worse with northerners (Newcastle) who are being called chavs. It's indeed not fun if they legitimately discriminate you, I understand you man.

People love geordies ( folks from Newcastle). Chavs can be from anywhere - they are the British equivalent of 'white trash'.

But you know what? I say fuck it, you get dickheads everywhere and I don't let it get to me.
Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.

❤️👍

yes you're right, the majority of england does not think this way about people from liverpool. ;)

You're right, without the racial component, your experience, though quite real, falls more under discrimination. But discrimination based on birth origin, that denies employment, is still morally wrong and illegal. However, with the present climate of blaming all problems on white people, your claim of discrimination is not likely to gain much sympathy.

Being an effeminate whiteboi and growing up in a predominantly Black (and hyper-masculine) school, I spent my teen years subject to both racial and sexual discrimination. I've been called every name you can imagine for an effeminate whiteboi and the dominant racial group made me do things that were embarrassing and humiliating.

Now you can argue that I was not born female and bullying directed at me as a trans-girl was due to my own choice. I get that and the argument has merit. Except that.....my femininity was obvious from very young. I have no physical or social ability to be anything other than female.

I'm fortunate that I transitioned young. The bullying as an effeminate whiteboi was quite emotionally damaging, but the social approval I get now as an attractive, passable trans-girl is rewarding.

I get it. It isn't dissimilar to racism. It's being singled out and being debased that is harmful.
But we rise above it if we can.

in 2005 or 6 there was this couple that used to make porn movies in the Toronto area. They operated in Oakville. I call the number they used and i talked with a lady who told me something about an up coming video productions stuff. i send them my pics and stats. a couple months later when i never heard anything from them I called them but their phone was disconnected. I emailed them asking them are they still looking for people to make adult porn movies. i got a response from them. i don't remember all of the details. but in the email they claim my accent was too thick. the lady i talked to on the phone a few months earlier never had a problem. after that i never contacted them a again. days or weeks later. they posted an ad on craigslists saying they need people to make adult movies. this pissed me off and i made a response post titled RE Beware these people discriminated against me etc i forgot the exact title.

on craigslist i warned potential models that I contacted them hese people told me to email them my pics and stats. months later i emailed them and told my they dont need me because my acccent is too thick. immediately they respond on craigslists and denied everything. and claim the lady i talked with on the phone don't know know. a few years later i check to see if they exist and it looks like they stopped making porn movies and the man one of the owners is now a "Business Consultant Operations/Strategy and Web Technology"
