Mixed race areas

Since I am from Europe I have always wondered what is the power dynamic in areas that are black/white mixed? If I am right, mixed areas are constantly expanding. Does it get obvious that white women mingle with black men? How much? Some friends that live there tell me that it is so. Is it the truth, is it on the rise? How is it for a white guy to accept that? Can some white boy describe the road from negation to acceptance? Since white women are on top of the social class in US are they completely carefree to show it? Are they shy? Do some do it on purpose to show white boys their place when they walk around with black men? How does it all appear?
