I thank you for your honesty, nobody has ever really been honest with me about much at all either. Why would it take you a year to wonder about this? If someone will not verify their identity, forget it. Obviously this person has something significant to hide. I would not want to find out what that is. The fact that a "friend" referred the person and apparently also does not have the bull's identity leaves your story a bit lame. There is a way to go about this the right way, just be upfront and honest about your situation.
