I was watching a porn documentary on the TubiTV app and a section of it touched on the missionary position. A number of people in the interview clips said the majority of the bigger porn companies have collectively eliminated that position (altogether) from being performed in shoots or have altered how they allow the position to be performed because all their cameramen claim it's too difficult to film and catch the 'penetration' action, which I noticed years before the documentary was produced. Before I became a cameraman, I wondered, "How is that difficult?" Now that I am a cameraman myself I still wonder what's difficult about it. In my eyes, depending on the angle I'm filming that position from, it's 100 times more awkward than difficult because I have to get behind the guy to film his dick in the pussy and (sometimes) also zoom out to film her legs/feet locked behind his arms and/or shoulders all in one shot. I don't mind because I'm aware that many fans like/love that angle (as I film for them, not for myself). What makes that particular camera angle controversial for cameramen is that in the same shot/angle is a clear as day view of 'man-ass', which I'm also aware can be a bonus for fans if they deem the man's ass to be sexy. Then you have some viewers calling the cameraman homophobic slurs in the comment while others indicate that to be their favorite part of the scene. The real awkward part can be where the male performer plays the video back and catch a half to a possible full minute of his own ass and feel some type of way about the cameraman catching that angle.
So yeah, the controversy isn't really a controversy. The true categories are feelings of awkwardness and homophobia.
Male performers and cameramen have the hardest jobs in porn as they have to find a way to be comfortable with one another...especially if the male is the cameraman's client.
