Chat vs conversation?

Just curious what the difference is in chats vs conversations? I sent a message through the chat to someone but now can’t find it in the messages when I click the envelope at the top of the page. Thanks in advance for any help!

Chat is chat, with it being more accessible for everyone. The conversations are private. 1 on 1 or can be multiple people

When I click on start chat is says “start private chat with (person)” but I guess it must more of a temporary chat room than a message. Thanks for the help.

I always use conversation tab over the chat tab. It’s far easier to use in my opinion

That's exactly what it is

You'll only see chat dialog under chat and there's no notification or history, unlike conversation.
