A broken politics, a broken democracy, a broken country

Unlike the intolerant fascist left, I have no problem with people who have different beliefs then me. I'm not going to call him or anyone who agrees with this names or get triggered like so many on the left do. It's just the observations of a n extreme lefty without any effort at all to be objective. Whatever credibility the writer may have had was lost with the O.J Simpson analogy. It went from the stereotypical leftist interpretation of an event to absolute poppycock
I'm right of centre, so you know what assuming does.

Plus, the writer of the article doesn't come across as left to the average British person. He isn't blowing smoke up trump's ass, but that doesn't make him left either. You have to remember that the whole of the world sees Trump as a complete dickhead and a total disaster for America.

Unlike the intolerant fascist left

you might want to rethink that statement because I don't think you either don't know what it means or are very confused!

The Trump Kleptocracy
The presidency is officially a cash grab — and a pitstop on the way to autocracy

To understand the situation with more clarity, look at Russia, which is a more advanced version of what Trump seems to be building. In 2013, the Independent reported that just 110 people held one-third of Russia’s wealth.

Beyond the human cost of kleptocracy is the danger that progressively draining the country of money creates the sort of inequality that leads to social and political unrest.

The same thing is now happening in the United States. Policies designed to protect the population—but which restrict businesses from making more money—are being abandoned.

Until now, the West was characterized by progress, which in a simple sense can be reflected in life expectancy. As countries become more efficient and effective, they generate more tax, and this is used to support better health care, education, and enforcement of laws that protect the population from harm.

Gradually, the economy unwinds and the social problems caused by these policies collide with the diminished public services that can no longer deal with them.

This is how nationalism and populism become fascism.

The kleptocratic policies continue to break things in a self-perpetuating cycle. The corrupt rich become even more rich, while the rest of the country becomes even more poor.

Perpetually blaming others creates an ever-increasing need to find scapegoats, which spills over into outright attacks on minority groups or on foreign governments
. We have seen this with Russia’s wars, used to distract people from local economic hardships.

This is how a democracy becomes a kleptocracy, and then an autocracy, and then a dictatorship. This is how nationalism and populism become fascism.

And I've learned that, even though I voted Conservative in the UK and I'm right centrist, I'm actually 'extreme left' in the eyes of Americans. What does that say about our relative countries' politics?
I think it says that the US has lurched wayyyyy to the right with trump. The idea that people pay taxes is about as welcome as a scorpion in the underpants, even though that money might be used to care for, help up and protect those members of society who by their birthright are disadvantaged.

I'm just wondering how much further Trump is going to push his fascist extremism to get re-elected. Senate have basically given Trump & his crooked administration the "go for it" signal, knowing if Trump wins, they keep their jobs.
And if the Democrats win the White House in 2020, first thing they should do is totally clean out every single person in his admin, starting with Barr.

Come on Mac, "fascist extremism" is a poor choice of words. Considering you cannot provide one example of him being that. I know you can do better than that.

You're blind or refuse to see the things Trump has been doing OUTSIDE the constitution and our laws of government. I can't help a denier. Trump considers himself above the laws of this country and Republicans support him in that.
Its NOT a poor choice of words ... in fact, if allowed to continue going UNCHECKED should he be re-elected, that is EXACTLY where we're headed.

I will take that you cannot identify ant racist act by Trump.

Here, have a beer on me. I do not hate you.

Take it as you wish, syscom, but please note that here it is 1:30AM in the morning and I'm responding to your post and as I've told others on here, my time is valuable between work & family; to be on here requires I spend times normally saved for other things.
So, here's your answer ... all is documented and I'm going to do dot-points, so don't initially expect long explanations. I might clarify a bit, Trump has a long history of bigotry, going back to the 1970s to current. With Trump, you watch what he DOES, not what he SAYS. He picks on Mexicans, Muslims, Indians, blacks ... you name it. AND, he's shown partiality to White Supremacists & Nazi groups. He's stereotyping of people of color like the black reporter and black members of congress saying they are from governments that are complete & total disasters. Even the Dept of Justice sued Trump back in the 70's for racial discrimination. Let's catch a few of the earlier ones FIRST, all being of public record:
•1973: Violations to the Fair Housing Act-refusing to rent to black applicants; settled undisclosed in 1975.
• 1980's: Trump Castle Casino-ordering all black & female dealers off the main floor; putting them in the back at the request of some high-rollers.
• 1989: Central Park Five-blacks who where charged & sentenced for ******* a jogger in NYC. Trump took out ads in NYT saying "bring back the death penalty. Later the teens were acquitted and the city paid them over $41 million for being in prison. Trump continued saying they were guilty.
• 1991: Trump complained to John O'Donnell, Pres. of his Trump Tower Casino that he didn't care about having black guys counting his money. He even admitted it in a 1997 Playboy interview and laughed about it.
• 1992: Trump Plaza Casino (again) paid $200,000 in fines because Trump ordered black & female dealers off the floor to accommodate some big time gamblers.
• 2004: Publicly pitched a "White People vs Black People" on his Apprentice show.
• 2010: Conspiracy charge that Obama was not a US born citizen, and even sent researchers to Hawaii to prove it. Later the researchers claimed there was a strong relationship between Trump's "Birtherism" and regular old "Racism".
• 2011: Demanded that Obama release his college records, saying that Obama was not smart enough to get into Columbia, Harvard, or other great colleges and added that he'd heard that "Obama was a terrible student".

Had enough YET? Its late and I'm going to bed. I'll continue if you like when I get some time, maybe Thursday ... got to be in Columbia SC tomorrow night and Wednesday. Again, look at what Trump DOES, not what he SAYS ... of course he's proven this time and again as President.

In Chile, on October 18, all the people rebelled against the abuse of large and rich companies. He demanded equality, real democracy and decent wages and pensions (US $ 125 x month 60% pensioners) and a minimum living wage (US $ 373 x month 40% workers) only public transportation costs $ 1.
After 3 months of protest, the coronavirus arrives, the people are terrified, the government is lying to us. If there is anything you can do to help, it will always be appreciated. There will always be a website that says SUPPORT TO CHILE!

How politics in the USA is seen from the outside. There is a wider effect on the way the country itself is viewed, which should start to become more evident as time passes.

You're fortunate you finally have strong leadership, notwithstanding the misjudgment on covid. England can finally stop emulating the rest of Europe, which is a failure. And that categorization of Europe has extensive empirical and factual data supporting it. When I say empirical and factual data, I mean real things, not articles from the BBC.

Sorry, I'm playing golf right now. Thanks for the message though 👍

It's easier to lie to people than to convince them they've been lied to.

Government is at war with the people. The object of the State is to gain more power. Period. Red or blue, Trump or Obama, it doesn't matter: their job is to trick you and consolidate more power for the status quo.

They don't give a fuck about you. Never have. Never will.

America has been a "looters in the riot" scheme for decades. The purchasing power of the dollar will never be higher now than at any point in the future. The good old days of a healthy middle class are over. Boomers got the last of it, and they still think they're special when all they had to do was not die to profit from the greatest wealth generation cycle until, well, until China did it again in the '80s.

The country will increasingly lapse into technocratic authoritarian rule with greater and greater wealth disparity. If you aren't technologically fluent, you are economically worthless.

Adapt or die.
