The clothing may or may not work. What I CAN say DOES work is dressing well and YOU starting the conversation with the black man. Have drinks and hang out. Do introductions to your wife and get a normal vanilla conversation going.

Then excuse yourself to another activity and let them keep talking. At some point excuse yourself from the situation and encourage her to stay and have fun.

This will only work if she knows and wants this.
