Without regard to the rest of your comments, let me point out that movies, TV and commercials, far from reflecting reality, over-emphasize and promote avant-garde issues.

I cannot agree more. Increasingly, it's becoming apparent that Hollywood is doing two things. 1) forsing it's own social agenda on the rest of America, and 2) totally out of touch with middle America.

Consider that the media is based in two places - New York and Los Angeles. Folks in those two locations share the same very liberal world view about most things. But have no clue as to what's going on in between the Rockies and Appalachian mountains, which is the majority of the U.S. landmass. This is evident in the settings of their productions and what they see as 'funny' or entertaining.

As a result of this trend, the television is becoming more of a dust collector in our home than a centerpiece for entertainment. Instead, we stream movies that we're interested in, watch sports (especially Football) and (gasp!) read. Also, spend a lot of time on the internet. There are some pretty entertaining web pages out there in cyberland.
