oh hell, between North Island and 32 nd street not to mention point Loma you have half the swinging dicks of the Pacific fleet.
There are a ton of safe local hangouts in downtown San Diego and Coronado. There use to be a great blues bar down by Croces' in the gas lamp district. Can't remember the name of it though.
