Misconceptions...for the more intellectual people on the forum...

I agree with a lot of what you say Storm... I chat with a lot of women who are into the interracial lifestyle, not only from this site but many others on the internet also and most have also said that they don't like the thug type either. Also, when I'm chatting with someone who is curious and thinking about having an experience with a black guy, I always recommend to stay away from the thug type, especially for the first time experience. Yes, there are some who like that type, especially younger girls who think it's really cool..and that's okay if that's what they like,.. but most generally, most of the women I know, like a guy who treats them nice and respects them for their needs, whatever it is.

In my situation, I've been very involved with my black boyfriend who truely rocks my world in so many ways...and he is a very respectable and professional individule with a very good job and has never been in trouble in his life.... and for me, that's what I like and what keeps our relationship so very strong..

Thank you Janice it's great to see some girls like intelligence and strength without having to be a dope boy or thug...also speaking with proper grammer and knowledge is also something people think we do not do.

kisses,

Unfortunately, all the hip-hop and rap videos portraying the "thug" lifestyle makes it difficult for most people to realize that not all blacks are on that level. Even the tendency in porn to show blacks as thugs promotes that image even further.

Oddly, there are many blacks acting in TV that hardly get noticed because, other than their skin color, they "blend in" so well with everyone else. It seems like it is only the ones who portray ghetto or thug style characters who get spotlighted.

Personally, I've met few blacks that act "thug" or even "ghetto", some, but not many. Most that I know, and I do know quite a number, are all very intelligent, educated and speak with proper grammar with little if any accent . If you didn't actually see them (i.e.: speaking on the telephone) you wouldn't know what their ethnicity is.

Very good observation will much respect goes out to you;) Like i have a lot of problems meeting black women because i am not thug or ghetto...

But white and latin women seem to have a lot more respect for me and actually give me compliments on my appearence and professionalism but i am a lot stronger and tougher than most of those wannabee thugs being that i am a weight lifter and mma mixed martial practitioner.

Much Respect,
Storm

What do you think is the worst misconceptions we as a human race have about other humans who are males and have a darker complexion/tan aka "blacks, african americans," etc? I bring this topic up cause I was given a phone call from a female on the forum and she swore I was not black because I talked proper... She did not believe me until I sent a picture!!! Ridiculous, needless to say I let that person go. Hmmm makes we wonder....
This topic bro is very sensative.... This is an occurence from the Slavery days, and recently with the firing of ESPN Rob Parker for his comments regarding RGIII. Six years of college diminishes me as a blackman? get the fuck out of here... some people just refuse to grow

this thug life glamour theme promoted by the media, is there to influence young people onto thinking only by adopting this bling life style, they will become succesful. its a great plan to get people accustomed to a life style ordinary folk can only afford using credit or turning to crime. which makes the banks more money through interest and the insurance companys more money through increased premiums. i salute you ppl who stayed on the straight and narrow. i have lived both sides of the fence and i now know the respectful decent way beats the gangsta ******* dealer armed robber type any day. i speak from experience, i am a white male i have done my penance and i like a little kink and so does the wifey. an a VBBC is the best just for the contrast really! i'll let u know wen we done it for real folks. i'm a bit stoned writing this, so if anyone thinks its a load of stoner talk. i understand!

Storm,
You know why the ladies give you respect?
Because by your attitude, I can tell you give them respect back.
Thug rough sex is fun every now and then. But as an every day occurrence, I think women want to be respected and treated as equals. Even if they like it hard.

When I sold cars customers who called in and talked to me on the phone were surprised I was black in person. Once lady thought I someone else's card so I show her my ID. She and I are still close though we have never fucked as she has ******* older than me.

Most of my life, people have been confused by my voice from when we talk on the telephone to the time when we meet in person, unless they know I'm black because I told them. It's just the way things are because of the circumstances of my life. Just the other day, a white friend referred to me as white because I don't speak with black vernacular English. I corrected him, but I understand the thinking. There is some truth to cultural norms as they apply, generally, to groups of humans, and people become used to those, especially the ones that are most easily identifiable. Not everyone adheres to every cultural identifier, though, and some people adhere to none. In my opinion, if we treated each other with respect when we encounter new people then we would have far fewer problems across the board. Taking the time to get to know people is always helpful. It doesn't mean that you can't have preconceived notions about others from outside your group, it just means you shouldn't let those cloud your judgment to the point where you can't accept them as individuals. And when you do meet a walking stereotype (and they do exist for all races/groups/religions/etc) you shouldn't let your mind assume that this is the standard of behavior for everyone in that group.

Well said. Amen. :)

I think pigeon holing could be a more accurate assessment. If you are a certain color, religious belief, or ethnic group you are expected to exhibit certain traits or certain vernacular in your speech. People are sometimes surprised when they first meet me because the way I speak apparently doesn't convey an accurate image of what I look like. People are just people, if everyone would get over the minute things that makes us different the world would be a better place.
