"Insatiable Wives"

.....Its been out a while, hasn't it? Like 7-8 years? 'Reading' men will probably enjoy this book, not near as many women may, however, as it tends to objectify women throughout ... references to breasts, etc. Most the interviews & discussions are with men, but some with wives present. It doesn't get into a woman's view of "being a hotwife or being shared with other men by a husband" and you'd think that would be important as married men would like some well written documentation which supports their desire to share their wives. Some things that David Ley mention in the book are interesting, like monogamy is practiced by less than 40% of the world cultures, and polygamy is the most popular. Hotwifing, which is what this book is really about is enjoyed by less than 1% (that's one percent) of cultures. But, then, Ley doesn't take a moral high ground with this concept, which is good. This book tends to be a book written by a man, for men. Ley is a clinical psychologist, but. the book leans heavily toward evolutionary psychology as Lebain mentions above, plus Ley doesn't use many footnotes & other documentation to support some of his claims, but, he writes well.
.....This book would probably be a good book to have IF you're desire is to create discussion with the wife of "wife sharing" & wives being with multiple partners ... maybe the wife will read it and like the idea. It'd be a better 'support' book if it was written by a woman and/or had more women's opinions and input. I'd give it a B to B- for lack of factually supported material. Otherwise, a A- for entertaining reading material.

We found this to be a better read, not as titillating, but more informative about sexual evolution. From memory, covers the role alphas, betas, cuckolds etc. play in the multiplication and survival of different species including humans of course.
