Depending on how much you intend to spend, you can choose one of the villas. You have the advantage of privacy, you can brig who you like and some of them are clothing optional friendly. Disadvantage, you have to cook for yourself or eat at some bar or restaurant. On the French side you can eat exceptionally almost every where and French wine is perfect. For shopping, choose the Dutch side.

There are plenty of villas that you can find for much less with privacy. We have rented 4 different villas in Orient Bay for 200-600 per night. All were walkable to Orient Village

You are right, we prefer clothing optional villas, with a private pool and eventually jacuzzi so kind of luxury villas. And 500 - 600 per night is already the same price as some of the villas in that site

When in St Maarten/Saint-Martin, make sure you explore both sides (Dutch & French) of the island.

We’re staying at a resort in Cupecoy but have a car rental so we will be all over the island so we aren’t restricted to any one place. Definitely will be doing the bar scene also and orient beach bars too
