since trump started calling them fake news... the ratings have gone up... highest in 7 years!
even been getting kudos from fox news and a couple others
trump is trying to dictate the news.... and ignore anything he doesn't like.... doesn't work that way

I think with Fox news ratings down they might be trying to fashion themselves a little after CNN.... I see yesterday even shepard smith called Trump out on his lies!

******* is what brought Nixon down..... and will ultimately bring this guy down.... since he has given comey a pat on the back and etc.... comey is not doing anything on the Russian phone calls ... why?.... but eventually it will come out always does

this guy is trying to dictate the news.... and stifle anything he doesn't want out.... kind of like a dictatorship!
he could do some SOME good for the country if he would get over his ranting and raving... and LIES!

Can Trump make good on his pledge to prosecute *******?

President Trump vowed today to crack down on “low-life leakers” who set in motion the events that led to the firing of his national security adviser, Gen. Mike Flynn. The leakers — also known to journalists as sources — disclosed that Flynn had spoken to the Russian ambassador during the Trump transition about easing sanctions that had been imposed by then-President Barack Obama.
“I’ve actually called the Justice Department to look into the *******,” Trump said in a lengthy press conference Thursday afternoon, much of it consumed by complaints about the coverage he has received in the media. “Those are criminal *******.”
The Washington Post reported last week that nine current and former administration officials contested Flynn’s repeated claim that he did not discuss easing sanctions with Russian officials, relying on reports from U.S. intelligence agencies that intercept Russians’ phone calls. Days later, Flynn was ****** to resign.
Revealing classified information from intercepted communications is a felony under the Espionage Act, and Trump has indicated that he wants a prosecution of those *******. Reporting on the information is also a felony under the same law, though courts would likely find that the press is allowed to print the information under the First Amendment.
The Justice Department did not return multiple requests for comment on whether they had opened an investigation into the ******* or received Trump’s request for a probe.
On Twitter, Trump also suggested news outlets that reported the information were culpable. He said the New York Times should “apologize” for printing leaked information, though he didn’t specify which article he was referring to.
When asked about the president’s demand for an apology, Eileen Murphy, a spokeswoman for the New York Times, said the paper is “proud of the work our investigative team does.”
“All this information gets put into the Washington Post and gets put into the New York Times,” Trump said in his press conference, referring to accounts of his calls with the leaders of Australia and Mexico. “And I’m saying, ‘What’s going to happen when I’m dealing on the Middle East? What’s going to happen when I’m dealing with really, really important subjects like North Korea?’ We’ve got to stop it. That’s why it’s a criminal penalty.”
Bradley Moss, a Washington lawyer specializing in national security issues, said he believes Trump would not take the risk of attempting to prosecute a journalist for reporting ******* since that would likely violate the press’ First Amendment protections. The federal government has not prosecuted a reporter under the Espionage Act since World War II.
However, it’s likely that the officials were careful in how they spoke to journalists, using encrypted messaging apps to avoid leaving tracks, Moss speculated.
“Unless someone made a major slip-up and exposed themselves as the source of the leak, it will be difficult to track them down,” Moss said.
Any prosecution of ******* would ultimately come under the purview of recently confirmed Attorney General Jeff Sessions. In 2013, when he was a senator, Sessions argued against a bill that would have protected reporters’ confidential sources and has taken strong stands against leaking of national security information.
“Freedom of the press allows the press to publish freely, and it guarantees that,” he said. “It does not guarantee the press the ability to aid and abet, to conspire with government officials to leak sensitive information that’s classified.”
During Sessions’ confirmation hearing, Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota asked him if he agreed with the Obama administration Justice Department regulations urging the department to avoid prosecuting reporters. He said he had not had a chance to review the new regulations but, “for the most part, there is a broadly recognized and proper deference to the news media.”
He added, “But you could have a situation in which a media is not really the unbiased media we see today, and they could be a mechanism through which unlawful intelligence is obtained.”
Gregg Leslie, legal defense director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, said his organization is concerned that journalists could be prosecuted under the Espionage Act, but he doubts that the courts would uphold any of those prosecutions. More likely is that a journalist would be subpoenaed to testify about his or her sources. If the reporter refuses, he or she could be charged with contempt or other crimes.
Leslie was also troubled by Trump’s demand that the Times apologize for reporting accurately on confidential information the government did not want the people to know.
“There’s no way they should apologize for accepting and printing leaked information,” Leslie said. “The American people deserve that. We need to know what’s really going on, not just what the White House press office says is happening.”

Guess Fox News is one that is reliable?
it appears Trump watched a program on fox about Sweden... and made some "quotes" during his campaign rally yesterday.... now it seems Sweden has no idea what he is talking about and would like to know.... guess the pres can just refer them to fox news as his source!

Fox bullshit strikes again!

The information that brought Flynn down was leaked by intelligence sources within our government. At best the information provided was shaky. Trump is a a corporate CEO and he thinks like one. Second generation CEO's are worse. Trump made the mistake of failing to understand that the POTUS doesn't carry the same kind of clout as a corporate CEO. He isn't stupid or crazy he is just an asshole a trait common to many CEO's. He will figure out that he doesn't have the kind of clout he had as a CEO and will have to work to mend fences. Bureaucrats and politicians are a pretty temperamental bunch, he has hurt the feeling of some powerful people. He needs to get them on his side, especially the intelligence community. I am interested to see where he is at at 100 days and where he is at 3 months before the midterms.

As to the veracity Fox over CNN I don't put much faith in either. I think the BBC does better than anything in the U.S. I visit the Kavkaz Center when it is up I get some interesting insights from them. As polarized as politics are today only a fool would rely on one or two sources for information

I just have this routine everyday.... since most of the day I am stuck here on this thing
4am I turn on CBS get a little world news then it switches to local and at 8am it switches back to world
at 10 am when price is right comes on I switch to CNN... leave it there until after wolf
evening news I watch ABC... trying to get different opinions or whatever... just a pattern I got into and like.... although when Trump started bashing CNN I started watching it a little more..... I think there are several that are getting on his nerves... I like that... hold the fucking liar accountable!.... and that doesn't even go into what I read on the computer!

since I have had this job I have learned more about politics than I ever thought I wanted to know.... and I know it is more than I really want to get into since most of it just pisses me off!

they all have their clowns.... CNN has Don lemon..... Fox has Sean Hannity.... not sure how either ever got where they did... but someone must have saw something

Things to soon come under the Trump dictatorship ....

I see today trump refused CNN and a few other major networks into the briefing... calling them fake news... all this after asking the FBI to lie for him..... I think he knows there is more coming... and soon..... and he will just use the fake news thing saying it is just more retaliation against him.... he knows the ******* is starting to fall apart.... and trying to dodge the bullet!

And you believe they really asked the fbi to stop the news about russia? Thats whats wrong with the democratic party they believe anything. My point being the fbi director resigned after trump was elected so everybody wants the job so i doubt they'd tell the white house no.

He didn't resign. He's in there for another 5 years. FBI director terms are 10 years.

Less fake news Mcbooh.

And you believe they really asked the fbi to stop the news about russia
where in the hell have you been? under a fucking rock?
It's been on 3 different news stations all day!
Preiebus asked for them to stop it and say it is false.... they refused! Comey sent Trump a letter saying NO!
before you just shoot off at the mouth.... watch the fucking news!

Trump asked him to stay on!... Probably thought Comey would owe him a favor!
but Comey just shot that down!

That's like asking the chairman of the fed to leave.. they don't just leave. They have fixed terms.

Remember they are not cabinet members. Whoever is not a cabinet member has their own term.

Preiebus asked for them to stop it and say it is false.... they refused! Comey sent Trump a letter saying NO!
I wonder what the ReThuglicans would have done if the White House had sent the FBI a note to back off the Benghazi investigation? Wonder how much yelling the ReThugs would have done? Think I know .... lol

Thats the problem too many people watching the news and believing what they tell them. Like the russian spy ship they've been there since the cold war but everybody thinks its something that just happened. Oh and fbi director are appointed not elected so no they don't have terms look it up.

Oh and fbi director are appointed not elected so no they don't have terms look it up.
I think that is what I said!.... he is still run through congress for confirmation!... Obama appointed him thinking he was a "fair" man.... and that is still up for debate!

your problem is you blindly follow Trump and don't pay attention to what is said!.... anything to argue!... that's the trumpie way

and yes the spy ship has been there before... never this far noth.... but they are getting bolder and bolder in what they do.... and yes we are doing pretty much the same thing.... that's why not a lot said

Priebus Reportedly Asked FBI to Dispute Reports Linking Trump Campaign to Russia

Published February 24, 2017 | Associated Press WASHINGTON – White House chief of staff Reince Priebus asked a top FBI official to dispute media reports that President Donald Trump's campaign advisers were frequently in touch with Russian intelligence agents during the election, a White House official said late Thursday. The official said Priebus' request came after the FBI told the White House it believed a New York Times report last week describing those contacts was not accurate. As of Thursday, the FBI had not stated that position publicly and there was no indication it planned to. The New York Times reported that U.S. agencies had intercepted phone calls last year between Russian intelligence

Jake Tapper Nails White House Barring Of Media With 1 Perfect Word
“Let’s not make any mistake about what’s happening here.”
The White House on Friday blocked several major media organizations, including The New York Times, CNN and The Huffington Post, from attending an off-camera press briefing, held in lieu of the daily televised news conference.
And CNN anchor Jake Tapper did not take the unprecedented move lightly.
Before his report on President Donald Trump’s speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Tapper took some time on CNN’s “The Lead” to break down why it’s such a problem that the White House barred certain media.
“Let’s not make any mistake about what’s happening here,” Tapper said.
“It’s not acceptable. In fact, it’s petulant,” he continued. He suggested the White House has difficulty telling the truth and referenced Trump calling the press the “enemy of the American people.”
Tapper then used White House press secretary Sean Spicer’s own words against him, cutting to a 2016 quote from Spicer promising that the White House wouldn’t ban media from government access.
“I think that’s what makes a democracy a democracy versus a dictatorship,” Spicer said in December.
Then, Tapper boiled it all down to the Trump administration’s values.
“The White House does not seem to respect the idea of accountability. This White House does not seem to value an independent press,” he said.
“There is a word for that line of thinking,” Tapper concluded. “The word is un-American.”
