Hubby is always there! None of our black friends have ever had a problem with that, but that is always made known from the beginning. I think the real importance here is that it shouldn't be brought up just before the wife and lover are heading to the bedroom, or whatever. This is something that either the couple, or more preferrably, the wife brings up in the initial talks with the prospective lover. There's going to be a certain level of apprehensiveness anyways on that initial meeting, and you don't want this new guy to have any doubts as to the intent of the husband being there, or you risk it affecting HIS ability to perform. So, get it out front early to see if the lover has issues with hubby being there.

I don't think it's so much being insecure or a wuss as it is being observant and getting a bad vibe from a situation. I've been to swinger events where one half of the couple was clearly not having a great time, but because of the situation/location/presence of others, they just sort of bit their tongue and went with it. Now, imagine that same scenario in the privacy of a somebody's house or in a roach motel and the dynamics change, enough to make anybody a bit apprehensive.

You make good points. I'm sure someday a psychologist or a grad student will write about the pathology of people who misrepresent themselves online, if it hasn't already been done, and that would be an interesting read.
