It's unsual for instances like this to get publicity outside Africa, but I have always said the SA was more 'western and modern' than other African countries.

With instances like this leaking out you can perhaps understand more why white people might be willing to submit to quite a lot to avoid the risk of arrest for a family member, and no the option of just leaving the country is not an option as they anticipate that from white people and act quickly once they decide to act.

My aunt was a missionary in Senegal for nearly 30 years. I have no reason to believe she had anything other than the properr behavior, however, my niece, her *******, has 3 'coloured' babies and no husband

Not entirely true. I have met white women recently who had been in the Congo working as part of the UN operation. There is an extensive UN operation here in Lebanon. But you are right in recognising them as a rarity in the Congo these days.

Nice! Don't know about villagers though. That scene could easily have been shot in the central park in Harare, and the Africans were dressed as I would expect factory workers to wear.
